The Green

We are slaves to green pieces of paper which we circulate forcefully like blood coursing through our collective veins. If a little is good, then a lot is great. The more the better. It makes our lives easier and distinguishes us from others. If we want to get from here to there, these tender leaves can help us get there by the most direct path. The shortest distance between two points is a strait line. That line is usually a toll bridge with collectors on either end.

Actually, the shortest distance between two points is a *straight* line, but that's only true if the points exist on a flat surface.

Whenever I hear the argument made over whether or not our economic structure is a bane or a blessing, I can not help but recall a comment made by Brad Pitt's character Tyler Durden in the movie "Fight Club", "You are not the contents of your wallet" and "The things you own, end up owning you." As I grow older I began to see more and more of the truth to life that a child has neither the capacity nor the interest to see. It's how bleek human existence has become because of this, what I have concluded is no doubt a bane, economic structure within which we all live. The majority of the industrial revolutionized world has forgotten how fufilling a life can be when sustained by your own labor. Sure, it can be a rugged lifestyle, but wouldn't we all rather feel satisfied rather than the all to familiar feeling of emptiness. And the sad part is, no matter how hard I struggle against it, I am forced to abide by it. I can not see any way to break free from its chains. Sorry if this seems like a rant, its just the cynic in me that comes out when I consider my inevitable future as just another blockhead following this twisted form of capitalism straight down the toilet.
