Friends in Focus: Right or Wrong.

I've had a strange idea which may not really be acceptable. I have to figure out a way to do it. Anyway, I find I learn a lot from other people when I think about them in a holistic sense. Why they are the way they are, how they got there. I think, as part of my great experiment, I'd like to annotate what I think about my friends, or rather, how I see them, individually. I'd like to do it here, on my blog, but it seems a little too personal. So I thought I'd throw the idea out and see what others think. Is it too personal a thing? Should I ask individual permission first?

If there is any question in your mind about a friend being uncomfortable about you writing about them, then ask for permission. Writing about them without asking might be a good way to lose a friend.

That being said, from what I know of your friends, I can' t think of anyone who'd say no. I for one, don't mind. It'll be like our second book... oh wait, nevermind.

I think I saw a Signfield episode about this...
;-) You may want to consider asking people before hand. (Although it would be more intersesting if you asked them afterwords ;-)

You should write it first, post it to MT as a Draft, and then ask permission ;)

I agree with Matt that I can't think of anyone that would definitely say no. It might take some coaxing, though.

If Emerson, Plato, Merton, Clemons, Shakespere etc. has asked permission, we would not have been blessed with their "CLASSICS" and thier philosophy/opinions that have shaped many of us into what we are today.

As long as nobody finds out I'm actually a sith lord who has taken control of the galactic senate and is creating an army of very boring clones.
Bah. Who am I kidding?
I'm actually just cheese.

Well, its a strange idea. I mean, I've made a decision to open myself up to the public via this blog, but I can't make that decision for others. So, I think I'll first see if anyone just outright says, "pick me." and I'll write my thoughts on that person. Other than that, I'll ask permission first.

I think it would be an interesting experiment. What's interesting in your case is all of your friends are significantly different types of people, yet you get along with all of them so well. I think writing your thoughts about them, both good and bad (if you so choose) would be very interesting and insightful. You might gain perspective on why you've chosen the friends you have and for what reason they are so close to you.
I give permission to use our friendship in your experiment, Dr. Wonko.
